Biography

Shaquanna Brown, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She also serves as a Research Scientist on the COBRE Center for Stress, Trauma, Resilience (STAR). Her research concentrates on mechanisms of risk and resilience associated with childhood adversity. Dr. Brown was awarded the K08 career development grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) to implement a novel multi-method approach that integrates ecological and laboratory methods to examine the role of affect in the link between childhood adversity and adolescent substance use. She is affiliated with the Center for Behavioral Preventive Medicine at Miriam Hospital and has held appointments as a Research Scientist since 2022. Dr. Brown completed her Ph.D. in 2019, a Master's degree in 2012, and a Bachelor's degree in 2010.
