Biography

Shari Seidman Diamond is the Howard J. Trienens Professor of Law and a Research Professor at the American Bar Foundation. She is a renowned attorney social psychologist and one of the foremost empirical researchers in the fields of jury process and legal decision-making, utilizing science in courts. Professor Diamond has published extensively in major law reviews and leading interdisciplinary journals, authoring and co-authoring more than 150 publications that include unique studies on real jury deliberations and research on Argentina's emerging jury systems. Her practice experience encompasses litigation and intellectual property law at Sidley Austin. She has taught at the University of Chicago, Harvard, and the University of Illinois Chicago. Diamond has served as an editor for the Law & Society Review and as President of the American Psychology-Law Society. She is a frequent lecturer to scholarly and judicial audiences across the United States and around the globe and has served as an expert witness in matters related to juries, trademarks, and deceptive advertising. Her influential publications on juries and surveys have been cited by the U.S. Supreme Court and various federal and state courts. Elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2012, she received the 2010 Harry Kalven, Jr. Award from the Law and Society Association.
