Dr. Sharon Dolovich

Biography

Sharon Dolovich is a leading scholar in the field of prison law, with a focus on the Eighth Amendment, prison conditions, and the state’s obligations concerning incarcerated individuals. She serves as a professor at UCLA Law School, where she has been a faculty member since 2000 and currently directs both the UCLA Prison Law & Policy Program and the UCLA Law Bars Data Project. Dolovich has taught a variety of courses including criminal law and constitutional law, particularly pertaining to prisons. She has held visiting faculty positions at NYU, Harvard, and Georgetown and has been recognized for her teaching excellence with the UCLA Distinguished Teaching Award. In addition to her academic work, Dolovich is an influential voice on issues related to COVID-19 in correctional facilities, having led national initiatives to monitor the impact of the pandemic on prisons.
