Dr. Sharon Greenwood

Biography

Sharon Greenwood has worked at the University of Glasgow for over ten years and currently serves as a Senior Lecturer in Public Health. Since March 2022, she has taken on the role of programme lead for the Master's Public Health on-campus programme. Previously, she has been a lecturer at the MVLS Graduate School and has held various fixed-term teaching and research positions from September 2013 to August 2019. Her background is in Sociology and Social Policy, and her teaching interests focus on inequalities, identity, health, and the political determinants of health. Greenwood's research centers on intersecting inequalities and health, with a keen focus on substance use, including illegal drugs and alcohol, gender-based health issues, and the impact of political ideology on health policies. She supervises PhD students and has received grants for research addressing equity, diversity, and inclusion challenges in public health research.
