Biography

Sharon Huang is a David Reese Professor in the College of Information Sciences and Technology at Penn State University, currently serving as the Interim Head of the Department of Informatics. She is also an Associate Faculty member at the Institute for Computational and Data Sciences and an Affiliate Faculty member at the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences. Her research focuses on Biomedical Image Data Analysis, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Graphics, and Visualization. Sharon earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Rutgers University–New Brunswick in 2006. She also holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Rutgers and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Tsinghua University. Sharon's work combines innovative approaches to understanding and processing complex data through advanced computational methods.
