Dr. Sharon Koshy

Biography

Sharon is a PhD candidate at the Australian National University, focusing on temporary migration and gender development. She holds an MPhil from the University of Hyderabad and a Master's from the Central University of Kerala. Prior to her current studies, Sharon worked as a Research Associate at the Centre for Public Policy Research in Kochi, where she led the International Relations vertical addressing Indo-Pacific nontraditional security challenges. Passionate about the gender dimensions in public foreign policy, she produces and hosts the Southbound podcast series, which discusses gender mainstreaming from a global perspective with experts in foreign policy, international relations, foreign trade, and climate change. Sharon has extensive research experience at IIT-Madras and the University of Hyderabad, where she engaged with international communities including Tibetan refugees and Egyptian feminist organizations, gathering both primary and secondary data. She has significant field experience in regions such as Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka, and has participated in various roundtable conferences and panel discussions at national and regional levels, organized by universities and consulates. Additionally, she is a member of the Indo-Pacific Circle and regularly contributes to newspapers like the Daily Guardian, Live Mint, and Financial Express.
