Biography

Sharon Ong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cognitive Sciences and Artificial Intelligence at Tilburg University, where she serves as the Principal Investigator of the Deep Learning Medical Image Data unit. Her research primarily focuses on artificial intelligence and image signal analysis, with a particularly keen interest in developing and deploying AI tools for diagnostic imaging. Before joining Tilburg University, she was a Research Scientist at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology Centre, specifically within the BioSystems Micromechanics (BioSyM) interdisciplinary research group. Sharon earned her PhD in Field Robotics from the University of Sydney, Australia, in 2008, and also holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechatronics from the same institution, which she received in 2003.
