Dr. Sharon Ostfeld Johns

Biography

Sharon Ostfeld-Johns is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics (Hospital Medicine) at Yale School of Medicine. As a Med-Peds hospitalist, she divides her clinical focus between the care of hospitalized adults and children. Her work involves not only clinical practice but also medical education, where she trains medical students in early clinical skills and serves as a faculty leader in the Race, Bias, and Advocacy in Medicine distinction pathway for Internal Medicine residents. Her research primarily concentrates on quality improvement in healthcare and encompasses areas such as diagnostic reasoning, reducing medical errors, and breastfeeding medicine, with a commitment to addressing health disparities. Dr. Ostfeld-Johns is actively involved in projects regarding prenatal substance exposure and has partnered with various organizations to enhance the care and support for families affected by substance use disorders. She strives to reduce the stigma and criminalization associated with substance use in pregnancy and to foster healthier family relationships. Dr. Ostfeld-Johns completed her MD at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and her residency at Yale, graduating in 2018.
