Biography

Sharon Rounds is a Professor of Medicine and Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Brown Medical School. She is a pulmonary and critical care physician at the Providence VA Medical Center and has held various academic positions, including Associate Dean for Translational Science. Rounds graduated from Wellesley College and earned her M.D. from Tufts University School of Medicine. After completing her internal medicine training at the University of California-San Francisco, she pursued a fellowship in pulmonary/critical care medicine at the University of Colorado. Rounds has authored over 100 publications and has a strong focus on pulmonary vascular biology, particularly endothelial injury and pulmonary hypertension. She has received numerous grants from NIH and VA to support her research. As a leader in the American Thoracic Society, she served as President and has been involved in mentoring programs for young investigators. Rounds has received multiple prestigious awards, including the Edward Livingston Trudeau Medal and the Milton W. Hamolsky Lifetime Achievement Award.
