Biography

Sharon Ann Taylor-Smalls is a Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. Her research and clinical interests focus on midwifery continuity care, adherence care, and reducing perinatal mortality and morbidity. Prior to her current position, she served as an assistant professor of clinical nursing at Columbia University and worked as a midwife at South Brooklyn Health/NYC Health Hospitals. Taylor-Smalls was awarded the Koko Roy Award for Midwifery Excellence by the NYU Midwifery Program and completed her DNP in Nurse Midwifery at SUNY Stony Brook in 2022. Her notable projects include examining the impact of midwifery continuity care on adherence in urban settings. She has presented at various conferences, including a panel for the Association of Black Cardiologists and contributed to discussions around Black maternal health.
