Biography

Sharon L. Weinberg is Professor Emerita at New York University, primarily associated with the Applied Statistics department within the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. She earned her A.B. in Mathematics and Ph.D. in Psychometrics from Cornell University. Professor Weinberg's scholarly contributions encompass numerous articles, textbooks, and reports, focusing on statistical methodology, statistical education, and evaluation in applied areas such as clinical school psychology and gifted education. She has received significant research funding, including support from the Sloan Foundation, for studies analyzing correlates of test-taking behavior in NYC's Gifted and Talented programs. Among her notable publications are textbooks like 'Statistics Using IBM SPSS: Integrative Approach' and 'Statistics Using Stata: Integrative Approach.' Weinberg has held leadership roles within academic organizations, including President of the Special Interest Group on Educational Statisticians of the American Educational Research Association and member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the 'Educational Researcher' journal. She has also been honored with awards like Steinhardt’s Great Teachers Award and the Daniel Griffith’s Award for Research.
