Biography

Sharon Wolf is an Associate Professor at Penn GSE, specializing in developmental psychology. Her research examines how children's family educational environments influence development, particularly among disadvantaged populations in the United States and low-income countries. She is focused on creating and evaluating interventions that enhance childhood development and learning through randomized field experiments. Prior to joining the faculty at Penn, she served as a postdoctoral research scientist at the Global TIES for Children research center at New York University and was a National Poverty Fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Wolf holds a Ph.D. in Applied Psychology from New York University. Her expertise includes poverty, child development, risk and resilience, early childhood education, school readiness, and program evaluation. She has worked with various organizations, including the Ministry of Education in Ghana, to improve educational quality and outcomes. Wolf's current research projects continue to explore the interplay between household economic hardship and school quality, aiming to address issues related to child labor and education. She has published extensively in reputable journals, contributing to knowledge on topics such as early childhood development, educational measurement, and the impacts of intervention programs.
