Professor Dr. Shaun Cleaver

Biography

Dr. Shaun Cleaver is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Sherbrooke, with a focus on global health, disability, and rehabilitation sciences. He completed his PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Toronto and further pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at McGill University's School of Physical and Occupational Therapy. His research interests include global health, disability justice, and equitable access to health services, especially for marginalized communities. He has led multiple research projects aimed at understanding the rehabilitation needs of people with disabilities in various contexts, including Canada and Zambia. Cleaver has received funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research to support community-based participatory research initiatives. He has also been actively involved in teaching and curriculum development, aiming to enhance the interprofessional education of health care students. Cleaver is passionate about integrating eco-responsibility into rehabilitation practices and advocates for policies that promote social justice and inclusive health services. He has presented his work at numerous national and international conferences and has been recognized for his contributions to the field of physical therapy education.
