Biography

Shaun Cole is an Associate Professor of Fashion at the University of Southampton, with research interests in sexuality and dressed appearance. He teaches a range of fashion courses, focusing on the history and theory of fashion. Formerly, he was the Associate Dean for Postgraduate Communities at the London College of Fashion, where he was also the course leader for a Master's in History and Culture of Fashion and Fashion Curation. Shaun has lectured at various universities including the University of Stockholm and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. As a curator, he has worked at the Victoria and Albert Museum and has curated exhibitions such as 'Graphic Responses to AIDS' and 'Dressing Male'. He has co-edited the book 'Dandy Style: 250 Years of British Men's Fashion' and written extensively on topics related to masculinity in fashion. His upcoming book 'Gay Men's Style: Fashion, Dress, Sexuality' is set to be published in September 2023. Additionally, he has served as Vice Chair of the Costume Society UK from 2015 to 2019.
