Dr. Shaun Hargreaves Heap

Biography

Shaun Hargreaves Heap is a Professor of Political Economy at King's College London. He completed his undergraduate education at Oxford and earned his PhD from UC Berkeley. Prior to his current role, he taught at the School of Economics at the University of East Anglia and held visiting positions at Concordia University in Montreal and the University of Sydney. His research predominantly focuses on experimental economics, utilizing laboratory experiments to investigate how social influences, like group membership, affect individual decision-making. He is particularly interested in the application of Mill's Harm Principle within welfare economics and its implications for behavioral public policy. In addition to his research, Shaun also teaches courses in Macroeconomics, Behavioral Economics, and Political Economy, and actively supervises PhD students, particularly those engaged in experimental research at the intersection of economics and philosophy.
