Biography

Shaundra 'Shani B' Daily is the Cue Family Professor of Practice in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University. Her research focuses on analyzing, designing, and building sociotechnical systems that foster meaningful participation and success in STEM fields. Daily employs four interconnected strategies in her work: understanding sociotechnical ecosystems, employing participatory approaches, designing technologies that enhance emotional development, and building supportive educational infrastructures. Prior to her position at Duke, she was an associate professor at the University of Florida and served as interim co-chair at Clemson University's School of Computing. She has secured over $40 million in funding to support her collaborative research activities and has been featured in national media including Forbes and NPR. Daily earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and Florida State University, and completed her S.M. and Ph.D. at the MIT Media Lab.
