Biography

Shawn Adibi earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1993 and has maintained a private practice in the Oklahoma City and Edmond area for several years. In 2001, he moved to Houston and in 2005 joined the faculty of the UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry. He earned his Master’s degree in Education (MEd) with a focus on curriculum instruction and health science education from the University of Houston in 2012. Adibi served as a provider for the Harris County Hospital District from 2002 to 2004 and was a member of the National Health Service Corps, receiving recognition for his work in treating America’s underserved communities. He is a tenured professor in the Department of General Practice and Dental Public Health, where he teaches and mentors dental students. His research focuses on Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD), Orofacial Pain, and Oral Health Risk Assessment. Adibi is a fellow of the American Academy of Oral Medicine (FAAOM) and has completed the Health Educators Fellowship Program at UTHealth Houston. His practice, UT Dentists, is limited to patients with TMD and Orofacial Pain conditions, and he also provides consultations and legal opinions across jurisdictions in the United States.
