Biography

Shawn Clark is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Manitoba, where he holds the NSERC / Manitoba Hydro Industrial Research Chair in River Ice Engineering. His research focuses on field work across Manitoba, including monitoring ice processes in rivers such as the Assiniboine, Dauphin, and Nelson Red Rivers. He combines this fieldwork with laboratory testing and numerical modeling. Dr. Clark's past research experience includes studying fish passage in culverts and field monitoring in the Delta Netley-Libau Marshes, as well as physical hydraulic modeling. He has taught courses in Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulics, Hydrology, Numerical Methods at the undergraduate level, along with River Ice Engineering and Advanced Hydraulics at the graduate level. Dr. Clark has been active on the Manitoba Board of Directors for the Canadian Water Resources Association and is involved with the Canadian Society of Civil Engineering. His research interests include River Ice Engineering, Physical Hydraulic Modeling, Numerical Modeling, Hydrometrics, and Hydrotechnical Field Work.
