Biography

Shayak Sarkar's scholarship focuses on financial tax laws and immigration issues. He obtained a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University and transitioned into law teaching after representing domestic workers at Greater Boston Legal Services. Professor Sarkar also clerked for Hon. Guido Calabresi on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He received his J.D. from Yale Law School and was awarded the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans. His academic research has been published in several prestigious law journals including the California Law Review, Georgetown Law Journal, and the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review. Aside from academic publications, his perspectives have been featured in well-known media outlets such as the New York Times and Newsweek.
