Biography

Shea Tomain Mc Bride received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the College of Charleston in 2013. She has earned master's degrees in Applied Ethics from Linköping University, Brain Cognition from Pompeu Fabra University, and Biodiversity with a specialization in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Barcelona. Currently, she is a PhD student at the University of Fribourg in the Environmental Sciences and Humanities Institute. Mc Bride is part of a research group aiming to develop ethical principles to guide environmental practice, with a case study focusing on the relationship between sensory experience and biodiversity conservation. In addition to pursuing normative goals in her project, she is keen to collaborate on projects in the fields of sensory ecology and environmental psychology, especially those that could provide useful insights for conservation. Her research interests include cognitive neuroscience, perception, and the effects of psychedelics.
