Biography

Shefali Roy is the Founding Partner of SDR Capital, a London-based venture fund that invests globally in early-stage companies, focusing on women and diverse entrepreneurs building technology in finance. Before launching SDR Capital, she was the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer at TrueLayer from 2017 to 2020. As an early employee at Stripe, she held the position of Chief Compliance Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for Europe, where she was responsible for licensing, regulatory oversight, and risk compliance operations. Prior to her tenure at Stripe, Shefali led ethics, compliance, and business conduct risk for EMEIA at Apple, and served as the Global Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer at Christie's and in compliance at Goldman Sachs for Europe and the Middle East. At Oxford Saïd, she is an Associate Fellow, teaching courses on startups, organizational behavior, ethics, leadership, decentralized finance, and cryptocurrencies. Additionally, she sits on the board of Tyro (ASX: TYR) since 2021 and previously served on the board of the Maker Foundation, which oversees the protocol for the DAI stablecoin. She earned her degrees from RMIT, the London School of Economics, and Oxford University, focusing on law, economics, finance, and management.
