Dr. Sheik Rahman

Biography

Sheik S Rahman is a renowned professor in the School of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). With a distinguished career commencing in 2006, he has made significant contributions to the field of petroleum engineering and resource management. His expertise spans various areas including enhanced oil and gas recovery, fractured reservoir simulation, and the application of artificial intelligence in petroleum exploration and geothermal energy development. Professor Rahman completed his PhD in petroleum engineering at the Technical University of Clausthal, Germany, in 1984, following a Master of Engineering Science from the University of Strathclyde, UK, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Chittagong University, Bangladesh. He is a fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. His research interests focus on fluid flow simulation in fractured reservoirs, hydraulic acid fracturing, and smart water flooding techniques. He also leads various research initiatives aimed at improving drilling completion techniques and optimizing energy resource management.
