Dr. Sheila Briggs

Biography

Professor Sheila Briggs researches feminist theology, particularly the nineteenth and twentieth century German theology, as well as early Christianity and the theories and history of modern liberation movements. Her current work examines the relationship between attitudes towards gender and the Jewish Torah writings of Paul, a first-century apostle. Additionally, Professor Briggs’s projects focus on how the ancient past is represented in the imagination of contemporary popular culture, especially in TV series such as 'Xena: Warrior Princess.'
