Professor Dr. Sheila Chapman

Biography

Sheila E. Chapman, MD, is a Clinical Associate Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, specializing in General Internal Medicine. She has extensive experience as a primary care provider and an addiction medicine practitioner within the CARE unit. Dr. Chapman plays a significant educational role, teaching medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty. Her contributions include developing and implementing programs like the Evans Student Scholars Program, aimed at supporting underrepresented groups in medicine, and the Willock Faculty Development Program. She is actively involved in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the Department of Medicine, where she serves as Associate Chair. Dr. Chapman is committed to addressing health disparities and enhancing patient care experiences. She has received multiple awards for her service and contributions to medicine, including the Outstanding Citizenship Award from the Evans Department of Medicine. As a board-certified addiction medicine expert, her research focuses on health disparities, COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy, and diversity in healthcare.
