She has held prestigious fellowships, including being a fellow at the New York Public Library's Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers, and she has served as a visiting writer at the American Academy in Rome. Over her career, Kohler has taught at various esteemed institutions, including Columbia University and Sarah Lawrence College, contributing significantly to the field of creative writing and mentoring aspiring writers.
