Shelagh Coutts completed her undergraduate medical degree at the University of Edinburgh in 1997, after which she undertook general medical training at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and specialized in neurology. Her research interests focus on the diagnosis, triage, and treatment of TIA and minor stroke patients, using imaging techniques to identify those who would benefit from treatment. Dr. Coutts has been involved in multiple international clinical trials related to acute stroke and stroke prevention, including the TEMPO-2 study, published in the Lancet. She has received numerous accolades for her work, including the Siekert New Investigator Award from the American Stroke Association and the Michael J. Pessin Award for Stroke Leadership from the American Academy of Neurology.
