Biography

Shelby D. Reed, PhD, is a Professor in the Departments of Population Health Sciences and Medicine at Duke University, where she also serves as the director of the Center for Informing Health Decisions. With over 20 years of experience in health outcomes research, Dr. Reed specializes in trial-based and model-based cost-effectiveness analyses, diagnostics, and patient-centered interventions. She co-founded the Preference Evaluation Research (PrefER) Group at the Duke Clinical Research Institute, where she leads projects centered on stated-preference studies to inform regulatory decisions and health policies. Dr. Reed has served as President of ISPOR from 2017 to 2018 and is the Past-Chair of the Society’s Health Science Policy Council. Her extensive research interests include Health Economics, Health Measurement, Stated Preference Research, and Health Services Research, with a focus on enhancing health policy and interventions.
