Biography

Shelley Harms started at the University of Manitoba in August 2019 after spending thirty years teaching and working at Mount Royal University in Calgary. She enjoys exploring the beautiful province of Manitoba with her dog, Merllin, and engages in various physical activities including walking, hiking, agility training, and golfing in the summer, while participating in skating, snowshoeing, and hockey during the winter. Shelley’s teaching philosophy emphasizes creating a fun, positive, reflective, and energetic environment, providing students various ways to know and understand concepts to help them reach their fullest potential. She holds a Master of Science in Pedagogy and two Bachelor's degrees in Education and Physical Education from the University of Calgary. She has developed a pen and paper instrument to measure decision-making in ice hockey games. She is certified at various levels in figure skating, volleyball, rugby, soccer, and ice hockey through the National Coaching Certification Program, and is a Certified Learning Facilitator for multi-sport courses.
