Biography

Shenglan Tang is the Mary D.B.T. James H. Semans International Distinguished Professor in the Department of Population Health Sciences at Duke University and serves as the Academic Co-Director for Global Health at Duke Kunshan University. He is also a Research Professor in Global Health at Duke Kunshan University. His areas of expertise include Health Services Research, Health Policy, Disease Control Strategy, and Implementation Science. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom in 1999 and holds an M.D. from Fudan University in China, completed in 1985. Throughout his career, he has been involved in several significant research and funding initiatives, particularly with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, focusing on immunization delivery, sustainable development goals, and tuberculosis care models in China. In addition to his academic appointments, he has held leadership roles in various health policy systems and research hubs. He is actively engaged in teaching and mentorship through programs such as Bass Connections, working to improve cancer control and equity in China. With a strong commitment to global health, he contributes to shaping health policy and systems through research and implementation strategies.
