Dr. Shengyao Lu

Biography

Shengyao Lu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Victoria. His research focuses on Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI), where he explores methodologies to enhance the interpretability and transparency of AI systems. He is also engaged in the study of Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) and graph representation learning, which are pivotal in processing and analyzing complex data structures. Additionally, he investigates Reinforcement Learning (RL) techniques and their applications in various fields, emphasizing the development of intelligent systems capable of decision-making. His interests extend to large language models (LLMs) and the implications of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). Through his research, Professor Lu aims to advance the field of AI by integrating explainability and reasoning into machine learning models, thereby making AI systems more reliable and understandable for end-users.
