Biography

Sheri Lynn Johnson is an expert in race issues and criminal procedure. She serves as the Assistant Director of the Cornell Death Penalty Project, an initiative designed to foster empirical scholarship on the death penalty and provide students with opportunities to work alongside practitioners in death penalty cases. She graduated from Yale Law School in 1979 and has been a member of the Cornell Law School faculty since 1981. Prior to joining Cornell, Johnson worked for one year at the Criminal Appeals Bureau of the New York Legal Aid Society. In 1993, she co-founded the Cornell Death Penalty Project. Currently, she teaches constitutional law and criminal law, supervising post-conviction litigation and capital trial clinics.
