Biography

Dr. Koshman is an Associate Professor at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, with extensive experience in clinical pharmacy focused on cardiovascular care. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with Distinction from the University of Alberta and her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of British Columbia, followed by a Post-doctoral Fellowship in Ambulatory Cardiology at the University of Alberta. Promoted to Associate Professor in 2013, Dr. Koshman was named a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists in 2018. Her clinical practice includes the Heart Function Clinic and the Cardio-Oncology Clinic at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute, where she is one of Canada's few pharmacists with independent prescribing practices. Dr. Koshman is a leader in heart failure management and has been involved with the Canadian Cardiovascular Society and Alberta Health Services on heart failure guidelines and initiatives. She has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in journals such as JAMA Internal Medicine and the Canadian Journal of Cardiology. Dr. Koshman is also dedicated to education, teaching undergraduate medical and pharmacy students and supervising fellows in advanced pharmacy practice, emphasizing practical application in pharmacotherapy for cardiovascular diseases.
