Biography

Sheridan Titman is a professor at the University of Texas at Austin, holding the Walter W. McAllister Centennial Chair in Financial Services. He is a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Prior to joining the faculty at McCombs School of Business, he was a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles; Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; and Boston College. In addition to his teaching, he served in Washington, D.C. as a special assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy during the 1988-89 academic year. An award-winning researcher, Titman has published numerous articles on theoretical and empirical aspects of asset pricing, corporate finance, energy finance, real estate finance, and urban economics. He has co-written finance textbooks such as 'Financial Markets Corporate Strategy,' 'Valuation: Art Science Corporate Investment Decisions,' and 'Financial Management: Principles Applications.' He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in economics from Carnegie Mellon University and received a B.S. in management science from the University of Colorado Boulder.
