Biography

Sherif Amer is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning and Geo-Information Management at the University of Twente. He holds a Master of Science degree in Human Geography from the University of Utrecht, where he also obtained a Postgraduate diploma in Geo-Information Systems with Urban Applications. His research focuses on the application of geo-information science methods and techniques in spatial planning and health care services. Amer's work emphasizes the socio-spatial analysis of health-seeking patterns, environmental health risk analysis, and the interrelation of socio-economic characteristics with health behavior. He is also known for his leadership in managing externally financed projects and for his role as a co-supervisor of PhD students in geospatial health topics. Amer has contributed to various international journals and is a member of several international networks, including serving as the President of the International Society for Geospatial Health.
