Biography

Dr. Houle is a pharmacy practice researcher interested in studying roles, uptake, and outcomes in pharmacy practice, with a full scope expertise in vaccination and travel medicine. Current research areas include proactive vaccination assessment by community pharmacists and primary care providers, evaluating the impact of pharmacy-based vaccination services on vaccination rates and subsequent health system and societal outcomes. She optimizes the scope of pharmacy professionals in the delivery of community-based vaccination services and addresses issues related to vaccine hesitancy and availability of pre-travel consultations. Dr. Houle holds a Pharmacy degree from the University of Saskatchewan, as well as a PhD and Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from the University of Alberta. Her extensive practice experience spans hospital, home care, community pharmacy settings, and primary care-based international travel immunization clinics. She has authored 120 peer-reviewed research papers to date and has received significant research grants from several organizations. Dr. Houle is actively involved in various committees and serves as the Chief Scientific Officer at VaxCare Innovations, a not-for-profit organization.
