Dr. Sherry Mckee

Biography

Sherry McKee is a Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine and the Director of the Yale Behavioral Pharmacology Laboratory. Her research is heavily oriented towards the development of treatment strategies for addictive disorders, placing a significant emphasis on female populations in the criminal justice system. McKee's work includes conducting clinical trials, behavioral pharmacology studies, and epidemiological research that seeks to understand the mechanisms that lead to poor outcomes in addiction treatment. She has led substantial NIH-funded projects, focusing on creating effective medications for addictive behaviors while considering sex differences. Currently, McKee is directing an interdisciplinary team with a focus on expediting the development of therapeutics for alcohol use disorder through the Yale SCORE program. She has also established an integrated addiction care system in collaboration with the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services for adults re-entering communities post-incarceration.
