Dr. Shery Chang

Biography

Associate Professor Shery Chang is affiliated with the School of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). She holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Cambridge, UK. Her career has included research in advanced transmission electron microscopy at major electron microscopy laboratories around the world, including Oxford University, McMaster University, and Monash University. She has extensive experience in aberration-corrected electron microscopy and has published extensively on theoretical applications of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques for nanomaterials. Recently, her research interests have focused on correlative microscopy and machine learning applications in advanced electron microscopy spectroscopy. She is particularly interested in the structure-property relationships of nanodiamond particles, quantum sensing, biomedical applications, and the fabrication of high-yield, multi-wavelength defect centers in diamond materials for various applications. Professor Chang is open to collaborating with students and professionals from diverse backgrounds in the fields of physics, chemistry, materials science, computational science, and biology at an international level.
