Biography

Sheryl Luzzadder-Beach is the Raymond Dickson Centennial Professor and Co-Director of Beach/Butzer Labs at the University of Texas at Austin's Department of Geography and the Environment. She previously served as Department Chair from 2014 to 2018, becoming the first woman to lead the department. As an accomplished academic, she has been associated with several institutions, including George Mason University, where she served as a Professor and Associate Provost for 20 years. She has authored more than 90 peer-reviewed scholarly works and has received numerous accolades, such as the G.K. Gilbert Outstanding Research Award and was elected as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Her research is supported by grants from prestigious organizations like the National Science Foundation and the National Geographic Society.
