Dr. Shigeo Hirano

Biography

Shigeo Hirano is a Professor of Political Science at Columbia University, specializing in comparative politics, American political development, political methodology, applied microeconomics, political economy, and Japanese politics. He earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 2003. Prior to joining Columbia, he was a faculty member at New York University and spent a year as a visiting researcher at the Center for the Study of Democratic Politics at Princeton University. His research focuses on methods and theories that improve our understanding of political behavior and institutions.
