Biography

Shili Xu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He received his B.S. degrees in Biological Sciences and Economics from Peking University. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, where he focused on small-molecule drug design and discovery. Dr. Xu's postdoctoral fellowship was completed at UCLA, where he studied cell metabolism, molecular imaging, and synthetic lethality in cancer therapy using a variety of small animal models. Currently, he serves as the Director of Preclinical Imaging at the Crump Institute for Molecular Imaging and is involved in developing state-of-the-art molecular imaging technologies including positron emission tomography (PET), computed tomography (CT), and optical imaging techniques such as fluorescence and bioluminescence. His research team applies these technologies to non-invasive assessments of cancer, immune responses, neurological disorders, and associated biological processes, as well as in preclinical probe drug development.
