Dr. Shin Koseki

Biography

Shin Koseki is an expert in architecture, urban planning, and computational social science. He joined the University of Montreal after gaining extensive research and teaching experience at renowned institutions including the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), University of Oxford, National University of Singapore (NUS), and ETH Zurich. His research emphasizes improving quality of life in cities through spatial justice, sustainability, and the integration of citizens’ participation in urban design. He has worked on large-scale quantitative and qualitative data analysis and prospective policy-making. Koseki is also a member of various research networks focusing on digital technology's societal impacts and circular economy. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Montreal, a Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from EPFL, and a Ph.D. in Architecture and Urban Design, also from EPFL. He currently oversees research projects related to inclusive public space design using AI, emphasizing responsible, local, and equitable solutions.
