Biography

Shinichiro ‘Shinbo’ Sugiura is an Assistant Teaching Professor and the Clinical Education Coordinator for Athletic Training at Penn State University, a position he has held since Fall 2019. He specializes in areas such as Manual Therapy, Emergency Care, and High Intensity Interval Training. His research focuses on Endothelial Dysfunction, Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), and Aging. Dr. Sugiura earned his Ph.D. in Exercise Science with an emphasis on exercise physiology from the University of Toledo in 2015. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training from Indiana State University, obtained in 2002, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from the same institution, awarded in 2001. Additionally, he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education at Chukyo University in Japan in 1997.
