Biography

Shinyong (Shawn) Jung joined the White Lodging-J.W. Marriott, Jr. School of Hospitality and Tourism Management as an Assistant Professor in August 2020. With over 10 years of global experience in the hospitality events industry, he has held prominent positions with Shepard Exposition Services, UNLV Student Union Event Services, Midas Convention Service, and COEX Intercontinental Hotel. Before joining Purdue University, he served as an Assistant Professor of Event Management at Metropolitan State University of Denver, where he taught courses in meetings and events management. Dr. Jung focuses his research on event experience design management, event tourism sustainability, and technology integration. He has published articles in leading academic journals related to hospitality, tourism, and event studies, including the Journal of Travel Research and Tourism Management. He is currently an Associate Editor for the Journal of Convention & Event Tourism and an editorial board member for the Event Management Journal.
