Dr. McCarthy graduated from Yale School of Medicine in 1979, completing her PhD in mammalian physiology at Cornell University. She chaired the Medical School Council for several years and has mentored numerous students and junior faculty. In recognition of her contributions, she became a professor emeritus in 2016.
