Dr. Shirley Wang

Biography

Shirley Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Yale University. Her research program focuses on the complexities of mental health disorders, including suicide, nonsuicidal self-injury, and eating disorders. She employs novel methodologies from clinical and computational sciences, integrating machine learning and mathematical modeling with ambulatory assessments using smartphones and wearables. Dr. Wang's work aims to formalize theories of psychopathology and model the real-time dynamics of symptoms and their contexts in individuals' daily lives. Her ultimate goal is to utilize these models to inform the development of scalable, effective, personalized interventions, particularly just-in-time adaptive interventions that can detect risks and provide support when needed.
