Biography

Shiro Furuya is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Purdue University. His research focuses on sociogenomics, exploring the intersections of social and biological sciences. Furuya's work aims to uncover the causal selective processes that generate inequalities in health and well-being, along with a thorough examination of these inequalities across various contexts. His interdisciplinary approach seeks to make significant theoretical and empirical contributions to social sciences. Furuya is set to begin his on-campus appointment in the Department of Sociology at Purdue University in Fall 2026.
