Dr. Shivam Gupta

Biography

Shivam Gupta, MD, PhD, MPH, is an Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He received his PhD from Johns Hopkins in 2009 and an MPH in 2004, and he also holds an MD from Kasturba Medical College (2003). His research primarily focuses on primary health care, health systems strengthening, and road safety, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. He is actively involved in various research projects, including the Bloomberg Initiative Global Road Safety (BIGRS) Project and the Samuday Uttar Pradesh Health Systems Support Project. Through his work, Gupta seeks to improve maternal and newborn health, evaluate health interventions, and enhance the quality of care in countries such as India, Ghana, and Ethiopia. His role in the Johns Hopkins International Injury Research Unit emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to injury prevention and health system development.
