Biography

Shivendra S. Panwar is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at New York University Tandon School of Engineering. He holds a B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (1981), an M.S. (1983), and a Ph.D. (1986) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He has been a member of various editorial boards and professional organizations, including co-editing books in network management and multimedia communications. His research interests encompass performance analysis and design of networks, particularly in cooperative wireless networks, multimedia transport networks, and switch performance. Panwar has served significant roles, including as the Director of the New York State Center for Advanced Technology in Telecommunications and as a Secretary of the Technical Affairs Council of the IEEE Communications Society. He is a co-founder of the NYC Media Lab and has been recognized with several awards, including the IEEE Communications Society's Leonard G. Abraham Prize in 2004 and the IEEE Fellow designation in 2011.
