Biography

Shlomi Haar is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Brain Sciences at Imperial College London and a Senior Lecturer in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Surrey. His research focuses on the neurobehavioral mechanisms of human movement, health, and disease, particularly in relation to motor control, learning, and neural correlates. Dr. Haar leads interdisciplinary research integrating engineering and neuroscience, utilizing innovative sensors and data science methods to advance Real-World Motor Neuroscience. His program investigates the effects of neurodegeneration, primarily in Parkinson’s disease, with an emphasis on improving the understanding of neural networks involved in human motor control, disease progression, and symptom tracking. A significant part of his research involves Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for Parkinson's disease, aiming to deliver personalized medicine through smart sensing and adaptive therapies. He has previously held esteemed positions such as the Royal Society – Kohn International Fellow and has led significant projects including the COVID-ICU National Service Evaluation during the pandemic. As of 2023, he has become the Movement Data Living Lab Lead at the UK Dementia Research Institute's Care Research Technology Centre.
