Biography

Shon Hiatt is an Associate Professor of Business Administration at USC Marshall School of Business and serves as the Director of the Zage Business Energy Initiative. His research focuses on entrepreneurship, global strategy, innovation, and sustainability, particularly within the natural resource sectors. Hiatt leads a multidisciplinary team that collaborates with faculty, students, and industry partners to develop solutions that advance global energy initiatives while balancing energy security with business value creation. He has received several accolades for his excellence in teaching and scholarship, including the Kauffman Junior Faculty Fellowship in Entrepreneurship and the Academy of Management ARCS Emerging Scholar Award. Hiatt has been a visiting fellow at the National Center for Energy Analytics and holds the title of Distinguished Fellow at the Hamm Institute for American Energy. Prior to joining USC, he was a faculty member at Harvard Business School, where he gained a reputation for analyzing the history and influence of oil companies in Venezuela, among other topics. Hiatt is committed to educating future leaders on the challenges and opportunities associated with sustainable energy and is actively involved in initiatives that promote innovative solutions for the energy sector.
